In an area that for over half a century has been able to boast a vocation for medicinal plants, the Casolari delle Erbe herb farms happily combine knowledge and imagination with tradition and hospitality. This is an itinerary on the discovery of nature, it is pleasant and relaxing, where the only rules are those dictated by nature and the spirit. Itinerary: Tour of the Giardino delle Erbe herb garden of Casola Valsenio, tasting of the famous olive oil of Brisighella and natural walks along the “Corolla delle Ginestre” Yellow Broom path and along the Strada della Lavanda lavender road.
Term: 3 days – 2 nights
Period recommended: all year (preferably spring/summer)
Fields of interest: botanical, nature, gastronomy and unique excellence of its kind. This itinerary is suitable for any type of groups, in particular for those who love the simply but originally gastronomy.
Means of transport: minibus or bus recommended (our prices do not include the vehicle cost, estimates on request with departure from any Italian place). Accommodation recommended: depends on the size of the group, but generally we recommend always farmhouses or small mansions. If the group will be very large we must displace more units sometimes distant from each other a few km a sort of "city hotel" where the services are centralized in a single structure, and for overnight stay and for breakfast everyone goes into his structure. Nearest or more convenient train station: Castelbolognese – Faenza Travel Program: Day 1: Meet in Faenza and transfer to the Giardino delle Erbe herb garden of Casola Valsenio. Guided tour (price of entry not included) of the cultivated herb patches, of the learning areas and of the olfactory laboratory. Here it will be possible to have a hands-on experience of distilling, using the essential oils and of preparing some of the plant extracts (teas, dyes, oleolites). Lunch at one of the Herb Farms. In the afternoon horse-ride, walk or cycle along the panoramic Lavender or “Corolla delle Ginestre” Yellow Broom roads (the bike and horse-riding expenses are all to be paid by the participants). Dinner and overnight stay at the farmhouse.
Day 2: Guided tour of the Giardino delle Erbe herb garden, dedicated to the use of herbs in the kitchen, recognising and picking of the herbs and flowers. Lunch in one of the restaurants specialising in herb based cuisine. It will be possible to take part in the preparation of some of the dishes. Afternoon free. Dinner and overnight stay. Day 3: Visit to the Abbazia di Valsenio Abbey and to the Cardello. Restaurant lunch with menu based on typical products. In the afternoon transfer to Brisighella. Guided tour of the ancient borgo: the Borgo or otherwise called Via degli Asini, the House of Manfredi’s Rocca castle, the Clock Tower and the Old Fountain.
The price include: - Full board from lunch on the first day to lunch on the last day. Our program combine well with the trains. Il you’ll arrive with the train please contact us. We have an agreement of collaboration with some of the cooperatives and the local transport companies.
